HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A woman is facing child abuse charges after crashing a vehicle with children inside Sunday night.

On Dec. 14 around 10:30 p.m., officers were dispatched the area of Hunting Creek Road and Circle Drive in reference to a vehicle that ran off the roadway and into a ditch, striking a brick/iron fence. HPD estimates around $500 in damage was done to their property.

The 26-year-old Hopkinsville woman who was driving the vehicle already had a tow truck on the scene when HPD arrived. An arrest report notes that they were able to smell alcohol on her, and field sobriety tests were conducted. A breathalyzer issued later at the Christian County Jail rendered a .141 result.

There was a baby under the age of one, and a toddler in the car when the accident occurred. No injuries were reported. The woman was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal child abuse and driving under the influence of alcohol.
