HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A 23-year-old Hopkinsville woman was arrested after running from the scene of an injury crash on Monday.

On Feb. 16 just before 7 a.m., Hopkinsville Police was dispatched to the intersection of South Virginia Street and East Ninth Street in reference to a hit and run collision with injuries. A collision report from HPD says a vehicle ran through a red light, causing the second vehicle to hit the driver’s side.

The female driver that ran the red light left the vehicle, and ran on foot northbound on South Virginia Street, leaving three other passengers in the car. They told HPD that the driver was angry while driving before running the red light.

She was soon located walking near the intersection of North Drive and Glass Avenue. According to HPD, she told officers that she ran because she needed time to cool off and disclosed that she had taken her sister’s vehicle without consent.

Passengers from both vehicles involved were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment due to injuries. She was arrested and is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
