HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A fun event is coming to Hopkinsville that will bring out your inner ninja, and benefit a great local cause.
On Sept. 30, Hoptown Ninja Warrior will take place at the Stadium of Champions. This event is being put on by Joy Closet, a local clothing store exclusively for foster families and children in crisis. The store is set up like any other store, so that children in foster care can feel a sense of normalcy while shopping for what they need.
The Joy Closet mission statement reminds us that often foster children arrive at a new home with only the clothes on their backs, and getting new items can take some time: “Financial assistance is provided but there is oftentimes a delay between accepting children and receiving funds to help support them.”
The store is set up to give the children and their foster families the support they need in the beginning for no charge. They operate off of donations, and are able to provide basic items like clothes, toys, car seats, shoes, and even infant care items.
The event
Hoptown Ninja Warrior has been in the works for quite some time, and has a lot of community support. There will be a Ninja Warrior inspired obstacle course set up, and teams can buy tickets to compete. There is also a non-competitive portion for people that just want to try out the course for fun.
Besides the obstacle course, there will be lots of vendors, and food trucks out there as well. All of the ticket proceeds will go to Joy Closet, and local foster families can attend with no charge.
People that want to purchase tickets can visit the Joy Closet website.
