HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – There are several locations in Christian County where people can volunteer to be bellringers for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.
Individuals or groups can register to volunteer for various timeslots at the Walmart in Oak Grove, as well as several stores in Hopkinsville including Food Lion, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and Kroger. Funds raised during the holiday season provide money for the Salvation Army of Hopkinsville, which will help support various initiatives and day to day activities of the organization beyond the holiday season.
Leading up to Christmas, the Salvation Army of Hopkinsville has an Angel Tree set up at Walmart, where people can support children in the community who are struggling to make ends meeting by providing new clothing and toys. As of Dec. 5, the Walmart website shows that there have been 29 purchases for the Angel Tree this season, with over 1,000 still needed. Gifts can be selected in person, or online.
People also have the option to be a virtual ringer by soliciting ongoing online donations in the community. Direct donations can also be made online.
