HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Jeffers Bend Nature Center is hosting the second annual Hummingbird Festival on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Following last year’s cancellation due to weather, the much-anticipated event is back and promises an afternoon filled with activities.

“We anticipate about 300 individuals to participate,” said Diane Croney-Turner, with Pennyrile RC&D Area Council, who is organizing the event.

The festival will feature a range of engaging activities including live hummingbird banding demonstrations. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to witness these tiny birds up close and learn about their migration patterns and behaviors. Attendees can immerse themselves in native folklore and learn facts about hummingbirds. There will be plants for hummingbirds and pollinators for sale as well.

The event will take place on the scenic grounds of Jeffers Bend, 1170 Metcalf Lane, where participants can also explore the three mile hiking trail, bird observatory, and tranquil lake.

For more information about the event, contact the Pennyrile RC&D council office at 270-885-5600.
