HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Blaring horns from dump trucks and tractors could be heard for miles surrounding DeBow Recreational Complex as crowds gathered for the 9th Annual Touch-a-Truck event.

This year, over a dozen vehicles lined the park with kids able to step inside and pretend to operate a variety of fascinating trucks. Tractors, an excavator, emergency vehicles, semi-trucks and more opened up their doors to curious kids on May 10, with an emergency rescue helicopter landing in a field during the event.

In addition to the trucks, free snow cones were distributed to families that attended. The Hopkinsville Police Department, Atmos Energy, and other volunteers also spent the day grilling up hundreds of complimentary hot dogs.

The truck event signifies the kickoff of Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation’s summer activities, with the first Movies in the Park for the season held the night before.
