HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Community spirit was highlighted under the Friday night lights as hundreds of alumni from Christian County High School and Hopkinsville High School gathered for the historic final matchup between the longtime rivals.
Alumni dating back to the 1960s were represented during the massive tailgate, with each school cooking out and reuniting with old friends ahead of the game. With CCHS and HHS being the only public high schools in the district, residents from all over Christian County came out to represent their school including past and present teachers, along with city and county officials all wearing their colors.

Alumni were also celebrated before Hopkinsville High School’s final homecoming game earlier in October. Before the players took the field, over 100 former HHS students, dating back to class of ’64, joined together for a choir performance.
With the athletic rivalry between the schools becoming prevalent in the 1960s, this matchup marks the final time the teams will compete against each other. In August 2026, the two schools will consolidate at the newly constructed Christian County High School.

Helping to commemorate the end of an era, both the Tigers and Colonels marching bands performed for fans and alumni before the game. Their dramatic and entertaining performances have proved to be successful at competitions this school year, as they both prepare for their biggest competition of the year the day after the game.

The combined marching band at the new high school could potentially have nearly 200 members. To acknowledge this milestone, the Christian County Colonel Band had the theme “One Last Time” this season. The colors they displayed and the songs they perform were all chosen to convey the theme and memorialize the legacy of the band. An omega symbol is also heavily present in the show design to represent the end.
