OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Local soldiers and military families from Fort Campbell will be able to pick up a free main course for their upcoming Easter meal during this year’s Hams for Heroes event.
The Southwestern Kentucky Military Affairs Committee will be distributing the hams alongside volunteers and officials on April 2 at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel. Each spring, several hundred hams are distributed to active-duty military families, with over 700 turkeys passed out a few months ago ahead of Thanksgiving.
No registration is required to receive a ham. Active-duty military and first responders can drive through the Equestrian Center parking lot between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. After that time slot, veterans can receive a ham until supplies are gone.
