HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) –Earlier Monday morning, the Hopkinsville Fire Department and EMS were called to a remote location off the CSX railroad near Metcalf Lane after a man fell from the tracks and injured himself.

According to HFD, a caller reported an individual had fallen and was a short distance away from the railroad tracks in a wooded area. Fire and EMS crews conducted a low-angle rescue using a stokes basket to bring the male patient safely up the embankment. Once stabilized, the patient was transported to an awaiting helicopter, flying him to Vanderbilt.

Reports indicate that the man sustained a severe lower leg injury and had been injured and waiting in the area for approximately 14 hours before help arrived.
