HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Christian County students have been chosen to receive a generous shoe donation from the Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners Association. This is the tenth year the association has facilitated a shoe drive in the state, having donated over 6,000 pairs during that time.

Rich Liebe is looking forward to being part of the process as the district five Magistrate for Christian County and 1st Vice President of the KMCA. He said the shoes will be distributed at Freedom Elementary School in Hopkinsville on Oct. 2. The students who are qualified to receive shoes have already been predetermined by the school system.

“It’s a borderline religious experience, you really do get a blessing from watching just what that one thing does,” Liebe told Christian County Now. “When everything is said and done, it’s all about helping these kids.”

The funding to purchase 750 pairs shoes came directly from the pockets of magistrates and commissioners from around the state. Each spring the KMCA raises money in preparation for purchasing name brand, brand new news for children who need them the most.

A news release from KMCA further explained that Christian County was chosen this year based on a variety of factors including median household income, and child poverty rates. Liebe said he is humbled and honored for Christian County youth to be able to receive these donations and invited all county magistrates to attend on Oct. 2.
