James W. Fort, 89, of Pembroke, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2023, at his home of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with Rev. Gary Michael Templeman officiating and burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Pembroke. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mr. Fort was born June 25, 1934, in Hopkinsville, the son of the late James W and Willie Susan Nichols Fort. James was a surveyor for the Kentucky Department of Transportation and was a member of Fairview Methodist church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Nell Fort; his brothers, Phillip, Doris, Elmer, and Steven Fort; his sister, Barbara Fort Meacham.

He is survived by his sons, Mike Fort and his wife Jody of Hopkinsville, Randy Fort and his wife Bernidea of Trenton; his daughter, Rita Faye Fort Sauls of Kirkmansville; his brothers, Allison Fort and his wife Dianna of Hopkinsville, Wayne Fort and his wife Dianne of Hopkinsville; his sister, Joanna Fort Watson of Hopkinsville; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
