James Mayo Long, Sr., 89, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Dogwood Funerals & Cremations of Hopkinsville. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Dogwood Funerals & Cremations of Hopkinsville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
A native of Martinsville, Indiana, he was born April 9, 1934 the son of the late Charles Long and Nadine Mayo Long. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He married Barbara Thomas Long and they raised seven children. After his military service he became a minister with the United Pentecostal Church International and served as a missionary to Asia.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife Barbara Thomas Long; son: Thomas Long; daughters: Karen Madison; Deloris Tennessean; sisters: Barbara Risner; Mary Alice McClain; Phylis Stiles; and a set of triplet girls.
Survivors include his sons: James Long, Jr. of Elkton, Kentucky; Bryan Long of Springfield, Tennessee; and Phillip (Susan) Long of Lebanon, Tennessee; daughter: Pamela Kelly of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; grandchildren: Barbie (Derek) Galagher; Patricia Smith; Bryan Haury; Tisha Kern; Kimberly Kelly; Jesse Kelly; Hanna Long; Nathan Long; great grandchildren: Ben Carter; Chris Carter; Casey Kern; Caden Kern; Lucas Schobeloch; Ella Mae Kelly; Liberty Kelly; Vada Kelly; Jesse Kelly.
