James T. Vertree, Jr., 86, of Crofton, Kentucky died at 3:58 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Castleberry Church Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dogwood Funerals & Cremations of Crofton. Dogwood Funerals & Cremations of Crofton is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Daves County, Kentucky he was born on January 12, 1938 the son of James Theodore Vertree, Sr. and Clarice Vanover Vertree. He was employed by Peabody Mining Company where he worked as a maintenance and repairman. James loved his country and felt it was his duty to serve in the military. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served with pride. He was a true patriot and always went out of his when he would see a fellow Veteran to thank them for their service.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his seven siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Eli Cline Vertree; daughter: Connie Church of Owensboro, Kentucky; one grandchild and 5 great grandchildren.
