HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Campanile Productions, Hopkinsville’s primary community theater company, is bringing a new spectacular production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to the Historic Alhambra Theater. Tickets are on sale now for four performances on Aug. 8 through the Aug. 11.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is an irresistible family musical about Joseph, Israel’s favorite son. With lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the story is based on the “coat of many colors” story of Joseph from the Bible’s Book of Genesis. In a show that is entirely sung, we follow the Narrator and the Children’s Chorus as they tell the story of Joseph and his ever-so-jealous brothers. Featuring a variety of musical genres, lots of dancing, and plenty of laughs, this show is all about being playful, silly, and of course, as flashy as that technicolor coat
“Our cast and crew have been working hard to put together this spectacular production of Joseph for the community,” says Joseph Director Anna Beth Riggs. “We are excited to bring this hilarious, zany, and over-the-top show to Hopkinsville. It has been the perfect way to spend our summer and will be the perfect summer night out for the audience.”
The cast of Campanile’s Joseph is made up of company veterans with a few new faces, particularly in the Children’s Chorus. The talented group of elementary-aged children have been meeting for their own rehearsals separate from the adult cast to learn their roles. They have recently joined the adult cast in these last few weeks before the performance to put all the pieces together.
Guests are encouraged to dress up in their “flashiest” attire in celebration of the occasion. “We really want everyone to fully experience the party that will be on stage, and to participate by dressing to the theme!” says Riggs.
Tickets to the three evening performances and one matinee performance can be purchased at campanileproductions.com. The Saturday evening performance will be accompanied by a special Campanile Cabaret in celebration of the production company’s 15th year of operations. Tickets will be sold at the door as available, but guests are highly encouraged to order online ahead of time.
