HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – For the past year, Joy Closet’s board of directors has been developing Joyful, a consignment store open to the community. The store will allow Joy Closet to expand their reach and continually raise money to further their mission in supporting foster youth and children in crisis.
“We were thinking of a way that Joy Closet could essentially have an ongoing fundraiser,” said Heather Gray, Executive Director. The store will be located at 2731 Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville, and will contain upscale boutique items, including purses and accessories, along with men’s and women’s clothing.
Joyful Consignment is planning a soft launch in the next couple of weeks, where a portion of the store will be open to the public. Gray says the full store will be open after that, with an opening day still being determined.
“Lots of people in the community have been looking for a consignment shop so it seemed like a great opportunity, and we are running with it,” Gray told Christian County Now. “It will have your high-end items such as purses like Coach, Kate Spade, and your clothing names like Vineyard Vines, Nike, and Under Armour,” Along with consignment items, Joyful Consignment will house brand new items as well.
Joy Closet aims to help foster children, kinship children and children in crisis feel special, valued, and loved by giving of tangible items and providing support. Their existing store- in Hopkinsville provides free, necessary items to foster families and children in crises. They recently broke ground on Hope House which will serve as a home dedicated to providing temporary housing during removal day for the children, workers and placement families in the foster care system.
