HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Joy Closet is gearing up for their annual Back to School Bash on Aug. 3 which is dedicated to supporting children in need of school supplies before the new school year begins.

This year, the organization announced that all participating children have been sponsored and will receive brand new tennis shoes and a gift card for an outfit. However, the organization still requires additional donations to ensure every child has everything they need.

“We could use more school supplies. Short and no-show socks, girl’s panties, boy’s boxers and briefs, and hygiene products,” said Heather Gray, Executive Director of Joy Closet.

Joy Closet is preparing to support over 100 children this year, including 69 from their own programs, Gray told Christian County Now. While the Back to School Bash is a private event and registration is now closed, there is still an opportunity for community members to contribute through donations.

Donations can be dropped off or shipped to Joy Closet, 814 Belmont Street, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call Joy Closet at 270-632-1232.
