HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The women of Hopkinsville’s Junior Auxiliary are hard at work organizing one of their biggest events of the year, The Charity Ball, also known this year as The Black and White Gala. This annual fundraiser will benefit a local non-profit organization that makes a significant impact in Christian County and beyond.

About Junior Auxiliary

Junior Auxiliary is a local organization made up of 36 young women dedicated to giving back to their community. According to Jessica Roseberry, a member of Junior Auxiliary and this year’s gala chairperson, the group includes women ranging in age from 22 to 40 and typically maintains a membership of under 50 to foster a close-knit atmosphere.

Throughout the year, the Junior Auxiliary supports various groups and non-profits and focuses on volunteer work. In the past, the group has worked with the Alhambra Theatre, Aaron McNeil House, American Cancer Society, Christian County Literacy Council, the Pennyroyal Center and more. “We work with anyone with different walks in the community and try to help wherever we can,” she said.

The group also holds several annual events or projects including breakfast with Santa around the holidays and buying Christmas gifts for families in need in the community.

The Black and White Gala

Roseberry said she is excited for the Gala as they are raising money for the Wings Up Outdoors, a non-profit serving veteran, gold star children, and first responders. “We never had a veteran, or first responder ran organization as one of our beneficiaries,” she added.

Typically held in early December, this year’s Gala has been rescheduled to Dec. 28 in hopes of increasing community support and participation. During the event, attendees can participate in a silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses, including gift cards. Roseberry shares that the auction is one of her favorite parts of the whole night. “It’s really fun because everyone tries to outbid each other, it’s a really good time,” she said. High ticket items from the Nashville Predators, and the Tennessee Titans will also be available.

In addition to the auction, guests can expect appetizers from Hancock’s Neighborhood Market, a photo booth, a cash bar, and live music provided by local musicians.

The Black and White Gala will be held on Dec. 28 at The Silo, 110 John Rivers Road. The event kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 for individuals and $90 for a couple.
