HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Governor Andy Beshear announced that Louisville will host the 2028 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team Trials at the KFC Yum! Center. This large event center is located just two and a half hours away from Hopkinsville with attendees expected from across the country.

The 2028 Summer Olympics will be the first held in the United States in more than 30 years. The trials in Louisville will mark the first time the Olympic rings have ever been displayed in Kentucky, according to a news release from the governor’s office.

During the trials, the country’s top men’s and women’s artistic gymnasts will compete for the opportunity to represent the U.S. in the LA 2028 Olympic Games. The KFC Yum! Center says they will take place from June 16-19, 2028 with men’s competition scheduled for Friday and Sunday, and women’s competition on Saturday and Monday. The Olympic team roster will be announced at the conclusion of each discipline’s second day of competition.

“This is a major win for this city and our entire commonwealth, and we worked hard to make it happen. I want to thank all the leaders who made this possible,” said Gov. Beshear. He noted that this event will spur economic activity in Louisville and the entire state, with visitors boosting local businesses, restaurants and hotels.

Tickets are not yet on sale, but the dates are already listed on the KFC Yum! Center website.
