HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Fire Department is heading into the community this summer to try and keep kids cool with the Hoptown Hosedown.
This will be the fourth summer the department takes this on, popping up at five different locations throughout the city in July. Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation will supply the music for these free events, and firefighters will supply the hoses and water for kids to play in.
“Our people enjoy this event every year,” Payton Rogers with HFD told Christian County Now. “It’s somewhat a break for them, and they get to connect with the community in a unique way.”
They will be at Joe Mumford Park on July 2, 16, and 30, and at the Hopkinsville Boys & Girls Club July 9 and 23. Each hosedown will start at 1:30 p.m. and will last for an hour, according to parks and recreation.
Parks and Recreation wants to remind the community that these events will utilize the departments extra truck and personnel and will not affect responses to emergencies in the area that may occur.
