HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Santa and Mrs. Claus joined Josie the Raccoon at Jeffers Bend Environmental Center for the 13th Annual Christmas at the Bend. With eight separate activities and a raffle drawing, there was something for everyone during this exciting event.

Dorothy Tolliver, who was helping the children decorate Christmas cards that will be delivered to nursing homes in Christian and Trigg County, said she hopes the event helps families create memories, “Why rush so? Time goes by so fast with all folks involved in. This lets them do something special together.”

Jeffers Bend lost many supplies for events during the flooding in April, but they received help from the Kentucky Colonels and Bluegrass Academy to make this year a success. Each child was able to make Christmas tree ornaments and a bird feeder with Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight before going in to sit on Santa’s lap.

There were free cookies, apple cider and hot chocolate to enjoy while walking between the event activities. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office and Hopkinsville Fire Department were both on-hand to talk about holiday safety.
