Lamar Foster passed away from this world on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

He accepted Jesus Christ and an early age and was a member of Moore’s Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was a member of the senior, male, and mass choir. He was a trustee and a former member of the usher board.

Lamar Foster was born to the late John Henry Foster, and Bladie Mae Shannon on August 14, 1938, in Athens, Georgia. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Faye Foster, his nine siblings, and his companion of 47 years Lillie Mae Merritt. Foster joined the United States Army on September 2, 1955. He was an army civil service retiree.

Throughout his life, he was employed with numerous jobs which included Jones Cab, Pepsi-Cola plant, Babbage Funeral Home, Babbage Cab, Fort Campbell NCO club, and Taylor Youth Center. He became fully retired in April 2015. He was a member of the Masonic Mason, and throughout his life, he was a member of various clubs, such as PM Howe-Finley No. 160, Knight Templar Malta No. 18, P.H.A. Royal Arch Mason No. 38, past Illustrious Potentate, Honorary past Grand Royal and Select Masters, Herbert A. Oldham Council No. 35, United Supreme Council 33 and Rajah Temple No. 92.

He was loved by so many people. He was a child of God and his memory will forever be cherished and kept alive by everyone that loved him. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Barbara (Ell) Moore Anniston, Alabama, his two grandchildren, Nicole (Quincy) Fleming, Fairburn, Georgia, and B.J Whitlock, Jonesboro, Georgia, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves to mourn, Alfonsa Merritt, Greenville, North Carolina, Linda, Raymond, Clarksville, Tennessee, Marsha Baugus, Vanessa (Harold) Moss, Philip Merritt, George Merritt, Valarie, Weaver, all of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Lisa, McDowell, Jeffrey Merritt, both of Lexington, Kentucky, Gary (Yolanda) Merritt, Parrish, Florida, Robert (Cindy) Brown, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeanette (Ray) Turner, Janet Brown, Trijuana (Thomas) Grant, all of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, 47 grandchildren, 136 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In Appreciation the family of the late Lamar Foster would like to express our gratitude for all the love and support that was shown during the passing of our loved one.

Visitation will be at Moore’s Baptist Church Hopkinsville, Ky Thursday December 7, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Masonic Rites will begin at 6:00pm.

Funeral will be at Moore’s Baptist Church Hopkinsville, Ky Friday December 8, 2023 at 12:00 noon.

Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Hopkinsville, Ky starting at 2:00 p.m.
