HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville and Christian County Land Bank Authority is utilizing their mission of reviving empty lots with meaningful developments by facilitating construction of a new duplex.
This new project was announced on Sept. 9 along with the Lincoln Real Estate Development Group. The duplex will be located at 341 and 343 West Edmunds Street as part of the organizations continued efforts to support local growth while providing more housing options.
“The project was recently reviewed and approved by the Local Development Corporation (LDC) as part of the Duplex and Multi-Family New Construction Incentives,” said the Land Bank Authority in a statement. “We’re thrilled to see these incentives at work, fostering partnerships that help enhance our city’s housing landscape.”
Previous developments, role of Land Bank Authority
The overall goal of the Hopkinsville and Christian County Landbank Authority is to assist with the revitalization of Hopkinsville’s inner city by giving unused properties value and purpose. They acquire and hold available land until it can be given to new owners or developers.
Since most of the available properties that go through the Land Bank Authority have been underdeveloped, abandoned, or vacant, they are more affordable for developers. This makes construction projects more feasible and economical and promotes new growth in underserved communities in the city.

The new project on West Edmunds Street is part of a continued relationship between the Land Bank Authority and the Lincoln Real Estate Development Group, who held an open house over the summer for one of their newly completed, modern homes. A multi-family residential home is also being built at 1408-1414 College Street by WB Properties, SE LLC as part of the program.
According to Holly Bogges with the Land Bank Authority and Legacy Hopkinsville, they have seen a lot more interest in developments this year and have been approached by many private developers. “We are excited we have developers that are looking to take advantage of these opportunities.” she told Christian County Now.
Bogges believes these new developments create a blend of more affordable and market rate units to the community. People who are interested in developing on properties for recreational or residential purposes as they come available can join the Land Bank Authority’s notification list.
