HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Interstate traffic will continue to be affected as the westbound lane near mile marker 91 in Christian County is closed due to damage on the roadway.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office initially alerted of the large pothole when several cars were damaged after hitting it on Sept. 27. The hole was formed after the roadway became oversaturated due to the heavy rainfall throughout the county from Hurricane Helene, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

In a news release, KYTC said the right lane will remain closed for an extended period of time. Crews plan on beginning repairs once the weather has completely cleared. Motorists are asked to use caution when driving through the area.
