HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library and the Hopkinsville Imagination Library helped facilitate a large donation of 150 books to families in local hotels who were affected by the tornado.
“Many families are staying at local hotels in the aftermath of the storms. We hope these comfort items will bring families joy and entertainment during this difficult time,” said the Hopkinsville Library on its Facebook page.
Pam Hale arranged the donations with the two groups. She is the director of sales for three local hotels including Hampton Inn & Suites, TownePlace Suites, and Sleep Inn & Suites in Oak Grove. She also has another hotel in Goodlettsville. Combined the four hotels are housing over 150 families whose lives were disrupted by the tornado either by power outages, or damage to their homes.
“It’s a scary time for children to go through something like the tornado. Leaving their homes with nothing but their clothes,” said Hale. “When I reached out to Nikki, within an hour we had books for everyone, children, moms, dad, teenagers. They bought books, crafts, toys, candy, crayons, and coloring sheets.”
Library staff proudly distributed the items earlier this week in Hopkinsville.
“We live in an amazing community and the smiles on the faces of the children when they received the items made it worth it all,” said Hale.
