OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With Christian County Public Schools starting the new year at the end of the month, students are able to grab a free haircut on Aug. 18 to look and feel their best on the first day.
Melissa Lynch, the Oak Grove Community Center director, said they have offered back-to-school haircuts for several years. She is hoping for a good turnout, and they are preparing to accept anywhere between 20 to 200 kids. Currently, four local barbers are volunteering their time to provide the haircuts, and Lynch sees this as the perfect way to alleviate some of the back-to-school finances families face.
“We are excited to have barbers that care about the community and get involved,” Lynch told Christian County Now. “We are looking toward to a great day.”
Families will need to sign up kids ahead of time at the Oak Grove Community Center at 1705 Thompsonville Lane, or by calling 270-640-7575. Kids between the ages of five and 16 can sign up, and there is a four-hour window for haircuts between noon and 4 p.m. on Aug. 18.
