HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man has been charged after Hopkinsville Police and Animal Control officers struggled to gain control of an aggressive dog on the loose.
A police report states that on Oct. 10, officers were called to the 100 block of West Edmunds Street due to an aggressive dog running loose. Animal Control also arrived at the scene and was initially unable to detain the dog due to increased aggression.
Officers deployed a sedative that seemed to have no effect. Additional backup was called to the scene, and the dog continued to show escalated aggressive behavior.
The dog then lunged at officers and was tasered and moved onto the Animal Control vehicle by two officers, where it continued to be aggressive. One of the catch poles used to move the dog was damaged in the process.
It was also discovered that the dog was not vaccinated for rabies. The police report shows the owner of the dog has been charged twice.
