HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Employees at Lowe’s in Hopkinsville spent Monday distributing supplies to people in the community who needed extra assistance as a result of the flood.

Free buckets full of cleaning supplies like towels, bleach, gloves, and trash bags along with cases of water were passed out starting at 10 a.m. on April 7. Now that floodwaters are receding, the kits are intended to support community members as they tackle cleanup efforts. Flooding from recent storms has impacted approximately 150 homes in the city.

“If it wasn’t for the community that we serve, we wouldn’t be in business. So, we are just giving back to people who continually give to us during their time of need,” said Lowe’s Store Manager Allen Humphries.

He told Christian County Now that around 40 or more people were lined up for supplies right when they started the distribution, with people continuing to trickle in during the afternoon. Some of the buckets will be reserved to take out into directly into impacted communities in the area.
