HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Over the weekend, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who illegally entered and stole items from the now-closed Lacy Elementary School.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that on Sept. 16, they received a call from the owner of Lacy Elementary in Hopkinsville. The owner said he saw someone enter the building without permission on surveillance cameras. After getting a description of the vehicle, deputies later tracked it down, and found the man who was trespassing. The man said he’d entered the building on multiple occasions and stolen multiple items from the school.

He was charged with burglary in the third degree, possession of burglary tools, and theft by unlawful taking.

The school board voted to close the school back in 2015, but it is still under surveillance.
