HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man was arrested on Saturday, Oct. 18, after he fled from police disregarding multiple stops and reached excessive speeds with a passenger in the vehicle, according to reports from HPD.
Hopkinsville Police say they completed a traffic stop on the vehicle for driving with an open trunk when the vehicle quickly made a turn across all lanes of the roadway, and continued to weave in and out of traffic across East 21 Street into residential areas.
The vehicle ignored several stop signs and reached speeds of 75 mph in a 20-25 mph zone. The vehicle eventually made a sudden stop on a gravel road and the driver jumped out and fled on foot.
The passenger of the vehicle identified the driver as her boyfriend and authorities searched his apartment. The vehicle on scene contained an unspent round and drug paraphernalia.
The driver was located on Saturday and charged with speeding, improper turning, improper display of registration plates, reckless driving, first-degree wanton endangerment, and two counts of first-degree fleeing or evading police.
