HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man was arrested on Wednesday after fleeing from police down the greenway.

Around 2 a.m. on Jan. 14, officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Cypress Street in reference to a disturbance. HPD says the 50-year-old male suspect was confronted by officers on the scene. He gave his first and last name and then fled on foot toward the nearby Hopkinsville Greenway System Rails to Trails.

Officers pursued him on foot, running through the dark and into thorn bushes, according to an arrest report. The suspect ran southbound on the trail before he was eventually tasered and apprehended by officers. He admitted to HPD that he fled because he thought he had a warrant out for his arrest.

The man was transported to the Christian County Jail and is being charged with fleeing police, and failure to notify of an address change.
