HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man driving under the influence was arrested after intentionally crashing his vehicle through a crowd of people in Hopkinsville late Friday night.
On May 9 around 11:30 p.m., the suspect was driving his vehicle on East 18th Street before driving into a group of several people gathered for a neighborhood event outside, according to Officer Royale Marfil with Hopkinsville Police Department.
One woman was trapped underneath the vehicle with critical injuries and was flown via helicopter to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. She is now considered to be in stable condition, according to HPD.
After the crash, the driver attempted to leave the scene several times and was stopped by other witnesses in the crowd. The suspect was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, assault, four counts of wanton endangerment, and other charges.
