HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man is facing a drug trafficking charge after a large amount of synthetic drugs were found in his vehicle after a burglary.
Three men were suspected of shoplifting at the Walmart on Clinic Drive on Oct. 27. Around 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the store after asset protection stopped one of the suspects. He was seen on camera grabbing shorts, pants, and a jacket from the clothing section before meeting up with two others.
The 62-year-old suspect, who had been trespassed from the store in 2022, then changed into the stolen clothing and was seen “shoving” various meat products inside of his pants with help from the other two men, according to HPD. The three suspects split up and he attempted to leave the store without paying.
Additional meat products were found in the suspect’s vehicle along with a large bag containing narcotics identified as spice. Several empty plastic baggies were also located along with a small amount of cocaine.
The man was arrested and is facing a burglary and drug possession charge. Another 47-year-old suspect was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to shoplift, possession of cocaine, and trafficking in synthetic drugs.
