OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man was killed in a crash while speeding away from a traffic safety checkpoint Saturday night.
At about 11:20 p.m., Kentucky State Police troopers were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on Pembroke Oak Grove Road, according to KSP.
Roderick Crossley, 29, of Hopkinsville, approached the checkpoint driving a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. After failing to provide his license, Crossley sped away, KSP said. Troopers then located the car wrecked in a field north of Interstate 24.
Preliminary investigation revealed the car lost control after traveling across the Interstate 24 overpass, leaving the west side of the roadway. The vehicle then overturned several times, and Crossley was ejected, KSP said. Crossley was pronounced dead at the scene by the Christian County Coroner.
The car hit a utility pole, knocking out power in areas of Oak Grove, according to Christian County Now news partner Dash 10 Media.
The investigation is ongoing.
