HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On Saturday, April 19, a 20-year-old woman was arrested after shooting a man in the leg on Bryan Street during a domestic dispute.
The victim was located by emergency services behind a nearby convenience store after being shot at the residence. While the victim was being initially treated, the suspect separately called police dispatch from the residence to report domestic assault.
While both individuals were being treated for injuries, it was determined by HPD that the suspect fired shots after she was initially assaulted by the victim. The gun was located by officers inside the home, and a live round was found in the bedroom, according to an arrest report.
Criminal history on the suspect revealed she had previously been incarcerated for possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested and placed in the Christian County Jail and is being charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and domestic violence assault in the second degree.
