HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – As schools across Christian County prepare for their spring break April 1-5, families can spend the days off with free programs from the local museum and library.

Museum spring break

The Historic Hopkinsville Museum is offering several programs where people can learn about rocks, farming, the history of Christian County and the Batter Capital of the World, according to a news release.

The museum will be charging a special student spring break admission rate of $2 and accompanying adults are free. No registration is required.

The full schedule is below.

  • Monday, April 1: Rock On! – Crystals, fossils, and coal galore!  The geology of the Pennyroyal will rock your world.
  • Tuesday, April 2: Travel the Trail – Pack a wagon with us and learn what it was like for the early pioneers who came to this area.
  • Wednesday, April 3: Down on the Farm – From seed to harvest, learn how important farming is to our history.
  • Thursday, April 4: Batter Up! – Stop by to play our new game, “Batter Land,” and learn what makes “The Batter Capital of the World” so delicious.
  • Friday, April 5: Famous Folks – Will you leave a legacy like some of these important local people?

Library spring break

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Library is also getting ready for spring break with Spring Fling. They are offering programs like LEGOs with friends, story time, craft closets and more.

The full schedule is below.

  • Monday, April 1, 2-3 p.m.: Virtual Rollercoasters.
  • Tuesday, April 2, 11 a.m.- noon: LEGOs with friends.
  • Wednesday, April 3, 10 a.m.: Storytime with Paul Strickland.
  • Thursday, April 4, 1 p.m.: Popcorn Theatre.
  • Friday, April 5, 11 a.m.- noon: Play-Doh Party.
  • Saturday, April 6, noon- 3 p.m.: Craft Closet Blowout.
