HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church is once again hosting a live nativity in downtown Hopkinsville. The Nativity on Ninth will be held the evening of Friday Dec. 13 and Saturday Dec. 14.

This is the third year the church has held this event, creating an interactive version of Bethlehem for people to explore. Dawn Ligibel, a parishioner and organizer of the event told Christian County Now that there will be 11 buildings set up outdoors, each occupied by costumed volunteers. People can wander around the display and engage with 70-90 different Bethlehem citizens, while also witnessing a live nativity scene.

“It is becoming something that people really look forward to,” Ligibel said. “It’s all about reminding one another about the true reason for Christmas and giving, sharing with, and loving our neighbors.”

She explained that this event is something volunteers of all ages look forward too, with every participant really get into character to give visitors an immersive experience. Animals will also be onsite, and people will be able to get free hot chocolate and cookies.

The nativity will be accessible between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. both nights at 902 East Ninth Street. Admission and parking are free at the church. For more information, call 270-885-8522.
