HOPKINSVILLE, KY – On Friday, Executive Principal Ken Carver announced that Sandra Hancock has been named Academy Coach of the new consolidated Christian County High School. Hancock currently serves as the district’s Student Transition Coordinator, where she plays a pivotal role in helping students graduate prepared for postsecondary success. She also serves on the Kentucky Dual Credit Advisory Council.

“We are excited to welcome Ms. Hancock into this role as she helps to oversee the implementation of the academy model,” said CCHS Executive Principal Ken Carver. “Hiring the Academy Coach is a crucial step in building our leadership team at the new CCHS. Mrs. Hancock’s leadership will help us connect students’ classroom learning with real-world experiences, opening doors to career and college opportunities while strengthening partnerships across our community.”

The Academy Coach plays a key role in the new CCHS, which organizes students into small learning communities connected to career pathways. Hancock will be responsible for the overall implementation, alignment, and continuous improvement of all academies to ensure high-quality, industry-aligned learning experiences that prepare students for college, careers, and life success. She will be working collaboratively with district leaders, teachers, business and postsecondary partners, and the broader school community to foster a strong, student-centered academy structure that blends career and technical education (CTE) with academic instruction.

Hancock holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University, two master’s degrees from Murray State University, and an endorsement in Instructional Computer Technology. She began her teaching career with CCPS as a Business Education teacher in 1997. Hancock has spent the majority of her career in Career and Technical Education, where she has served as the Information Technology instructor, Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) Coordinator, dual credit instructor, and College and Career Coach. She has taught at HHS, CCHS, and Gateway Academy.

“I am honored to accept the position of Academy Coach,” said Sandra Hancock. “I look forward to working with all of our stakeholders to increase meaningful learning experiences for our students.”

She and her husband, Scott, live in Hopkinsville and are proud graduates of CCPS. Hancock enjoys spending time with her family, including their son, Taylor Wade, his wife, and their two grandsons.
