HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – LoserRising is more than just a private tattoo studio, it also doubles as a storefront for eclectic and handmade products ranging between paintings, earrings, clothing and more. Tattoo artist and owner Taylor Lucia curated the homey space to reflect her personality and love of cottage core style to create a safe and comforting environment for the community.

“I’ve always had a dream of having a space where I can tattoo and do art, but also have other artist in here as well,” she told Christian County Now. All of the artists and vendors that are featured in the store are local to the city or the region.

Originally from Florida, Lucia recently moved to the Hopkinsville area with about five years of tattoo experience under her belt. After moving here, she found that having such a central location made her work accessible for a wide range of clients, leading her to open the shop. Her whimsical, often nature inspired tattoo style is present in the space as the sole tattoo artist.

“Sometimes you walk into a tattoo shop and it’s very intimidating,” said Lucia. “A lot of my clients tell me that I made them feel safe and I made them feel comfortable and that’s what I want for them.”

A priority she had when opening was ensuring the space was accommodating and welcoming for all clients and shoppers. As a mom of three kids, including a young toddler, she made sure to have an area where kids can relax, watch TV or play during appointments without judgement.

Although the store is already stocked with fun items, she said there will be even more vendors added soon. Shopping is accessible throughout regular business hours and is not limited to tattoo appointments. In the future she hopes to expand into hosting events to further support local artists.

A grand opening celebration will be held on April 3 where people have a chance to explore, shop, and try their hand at the “get what you get” tattoo vending machine. Attendees will also be entered into a raffle for a gift basket.

The shop is located at 1105 East Ninth Street. Aside from the grand opening, tattoos are available by appointment only. They are open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Find more information on the LoserRising: Tattoo and Consignment Facebook page.
