New Year’s week weather: Overnight lows to drop back below freezing

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Temperatures are dropping this week with the return of sub-freezing overnight lows.

After a high of 58 and a low of 46 on Monday, the high will drop to 41 on New Year’s Day, according to the National Weather Service.

There’s a 50% chance of rain on Monday, and a 40% chance on Tuesday.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
Monday night: A chance of rain before 3am, then a chance of rain after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Southeast wind 13 to 16 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.
Tuesday night: A 20 percent chance of rain before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. West northwest wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
