HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The suspect who was wanted in connection to a fatal shooting at the Pilot Travel Center in Oak Grove was located and arrested. 36-year-old Brian Lee Kerr Jr. was taken into custody on Jan. 6 by Illinois State Police.
The shooting occurred just after midnight on Dec. 28 at the gas station on Pembroke-Oak Grove Road. The victim was 37-year-old Dmytro Serbeniuk from Des Plaines, Illinois. Oak Grove PD clarified in a news release that the shooting was the result of a carjacking.
Kerr was wanted for multiple charges in Maury and Humphreys County in Tennessee for theft over $10,000, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and other charges. The suspect was arrested following a pursuit with the Illinois State Police after he drove the stolen vehicle through Humphreys County, according to Oak Grove PD.
Local officers thanked the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Department for their assistances in this case along with all law enforcement who helped capture Kerr.
