OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Two people from Hopkinsville are facing drug trafficking charges after nearly 25 grams of meth was found in their vehicle during a welfare check of a suspicious vehicle.

On May 11, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office were called to check on a vehicle that was parked at the Pilot Gas Station located in the 12000 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard. The vehicle was stationary with its headlights and windshield wipers activated when deputies arrived, according to a news release from CCSO.

Contact was made with the with 34-year-old female suspect in the front passenger seat. A second individual, a 47-year-old man who was the registered owner of the vehicle, was seen exiting the store at the gas station. Both individuals voluntarily provided identification.

Dispatch notified the deputy of an active criminal summons for the woman, and she was detained. While she got out of the vehicle, an open alcoholic beverage container was observed in plain view, leading to further investigation. A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a small baggie containing suspected methamphetamine in her purse.

CCSO says that a further search uncovered approximately 24.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle’s glove box. Both individuals were taken into custody and are being charged with trafficking in a controlled substance along with other offenses.
