HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Marquetta Wheeler made a name for herself in Guthrie with the opening of Nu’Blaque Boutique in 2021. She is now moving to a new location with the hopes of bringing the latest clothes and accessories to Hopkinsville.

“I’m very excited and I’m truly thankful for this opportunity,” said Wheeler. The date of the upcoming ribbon cutting holds a special place in her heart and was also the same day she opened the Gurthrie location.

“I opened up my store on Jan. 31, 2021. That is actually my mom’s birthday as well as her death date, so that’s a very special date for me,” said Wheeler. “I have bad memories for that day, so I try to make it something happy so I can have happy thoughts about that day.”

Community impact

Marquetta and her daughter will be running the new location selling trending women’s and kids clothing and apparel, with men’s clothing coming in March. Accessories, lashes, and hair will also be sold, and Wheeler is hoping to hire a makeup artist and hair braider to fully make it a one stop shop. Although they are still a few weeks away from opening, the decor is already falling into place with lush, pink photo walls being put up.

“It’s very, very pretty! It’s like a pink doll house,” said Wheeler when talking about her vision for the store.

After their doors open, Wheeler wants to have a positive impact on the community. “We always give back to the community. In Guthrie, I hosted back to school bashes, Christmas giveaways, Thanksgiving and Easter baskets. So, I’m hoping to come into this city and do the same thing.”

The new location at 4048 Fort Campbell Blvd. will open Jan. 31 with a ribbon cutting at 3 p.m.
