Passport initiative encourages community to shop during Small Business Week in Christian County

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – In recognition of Small Business Week, from May 4–9, the Christian County Chamber of Commerce, Hopkinsville Small Business Commission, and Downtown Renaissance are joining forces to spotlight the entrepreneurs, storefronts, and service providers.

“These businesses are more than places to shop. They represent our neighbors, our first jobs, the local gathering spots, and about dreams brought to life,” said Taylor Hayes in a news release from the chamber. “Whether it’s a morning coffee, a thoughtful gift, or a needed service, every dollar spent locally strengthens Hopkinsville in ways that big-box retailers simply can’t replicate.”

This year, they are integrating a “Shop Local and Win Prizes” initiative to add extra incentive to explore. There are over 30 participating businesses where shoppers can pick up a Small Business Week passport where they can earn prizes by stopping at more locations.

“As we celebrate National Small Business Week, it’s worth remembering that the success of our community has always depended on the people willing to take risks, start businesses, and invest in their neighbors,” continued Hayes. “During Small Business Week, make the intentional choice: walk into a local shop, try a new spot, strike up a conversation. Supporting small businesses isn’t just good economics, it’s an investment in the future of Hopkinsville-Christian County.”
