HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Preparations are in full swing as the Pennyrile Area Community Band rehearses for their upcoming Fourth of July concert in Hopkinsville.

The free concert will be at Casey Jones Distillery, 2815 Witty Lane starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.

Michelle Cherry, communication director with the community band, told Christian County Now that the concert will be a great family event. “This will be out fifth time to perform at Casey Jones,” Cherry said. “Wear your red, white, and blue, and enjoy the beautiful grounds.”

Around 40 band members will take the stage to play patriotic songs including “Armed Forces: The Pride of America,” “America the Beautiful,” “Salute to Old Glory, “Olympic Fanfare and Theme,” “My Old Kentucky Home” and “The Black Horse Troop March.”

The band is a nonprofit based in Hopkinsville that is made up of passionate musicians from around the Pennyrile area. Band directors, students and former band members make up the performers. Although the concert is free, donations fund the band by helping them purchase equipment, music and instruments.

Along with the live music, Casey Jones Distillery will be hosting local food trucks. Guests are asked to bring a lawn chair but leave the coolers at home.
