HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.
Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:
Meet Roxy. She is a 1 year and 8 month old Pit Bull Terrier that was released to the shelter because she got in a fight with the other female dog in the home. Roxy is very DOG SELECTIVE, which means she won’t get along with every dog that she comes in contact with. She is very picky on her canine friends! She has never been around cats, so we are not sure how she would do with them. She loves kiddos and really enjoys having them around to play with. She is completely CRATE TRAINED and PARTIALLY HOUSE TRAINED. She still has some accidents in the house, but that shouldn’t be too hard to break. She knows the commands “Sit”, “Stay”, “Down”, “Come”, and “Leave it”. Roxy’s favorite toys are ropes. Roxy has been given her first round of vaccines and is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE as of 12/28/2023. She is also already MICROCHIPPED. Roxy is ready for her shot at a new FURR-EVER home! Roxy’s adoption fee is $75.50

Monte is a GREAT cat despite being a little tense on camera! He loves dogs and is affectionate and sweet! Good with other cats too. And so handsome. He’s been here nearly 2 years. Sweet sweet Lovey is patiently waiting for her forever family! Now 5 1/2 years old this pretty girl is extremely affectionate and everything you would expect from a Coonhound / American Foxhound possibly beagle or basset mix! She is a definite foodie and as she was starved for probably the first 4 years of her life she can get a little anxious when it’s time to eat! She’s very good with other dogs and cats she adores children – quite honestly she adores humans of all ages!! Lovey is sensitive and will require some loving patience while transitioning into a new home but she is a wonderful dog and a lot of fun she loves to take long rambling walks or just hang out on the couch! Her beautiful hazel eyes and pretty markings are beautiful but her gentle heart is even more beautiful . She has no known health conditions is up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives and has been spayed and successfully completed heartworm treatment. Rum Tum Tugger is a 5 yr old gorgeously handsome, affectionate charcoal tiger. He’s HUGE. At 19 lbs, he is the perfect feline heating pad for these cold months. He’s been great with the dogs once he spent some time with them, and good with the other cats. He loves to sleep on Mr Magoo, the big blind Boxer mix… But he wants his person!!! He’s an indoor, family oriented, comfort loving feline! He’s playful and a snuggle king. Uses the litter boxes here. No known health conditions, UTD on all vaccines and preventatives.
