HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.

Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:

Alice, pictured above, has been at the shelter for almost half a year. She really needs to find her forever home. She is a one-year-old white and black Pit mix who was brought to the shelter as a stray from Hopkinsville. She has done good with the staff and didn’t have issues adjusting to the shelter. She has a very sweet temperament and is ready to greet everyone. She should do well with children and doesn’t react much to other dogs she has seen although we do not know for sure how she will react to other animals in a home setting. We also don’t know if she is housebroken but we always offer trial adoptions to be sure she would be a good fit for you! Alice is heartworm negative and weighs about 50 pounds. She has been spayed and brought up to date on vaccinations through the shelters spay neuter program. Her adoption fee is fully sponsored.

Dottie, a stray found in a garbage bag.

This lucky girl is Dottie. She was brought to the shelter as a stray, and she was found in a garbage bag. Dottie has now been here for a little over half a month. Luckily someone found her and saved her. She’s been great with the shelter staff, has done fine with the other cats so far, and uses her litter box. We don’t know how she is with dogs. She is FIV, FeLV, and heart worm negative as of 8-31-23. Her adoption fee is $57.50.
