HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.

Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:

Meet Ambiorix. He is a 3 year old German Shepherd that was released to the shelter because he nipped at the grandchild. He is great with other dogs, but we do not know how he would do with cats, as he has never been around them. Ambiorix can only be in a home that has ONLY CHILDREN OVER 12. He does not do that best with small children, so we feel he would do much better with older children. He has been HOUSE TRAINED. Very protective over his people. He will not let people come in once he feels at home. He would need to be put up when company comes over because he will be very protective over his people. Ambiorix has been given his first round of vaccines and is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE as of 01/12/2024. He is already NEUTERED and CURRENT ON HIS RABIES VACCINE. He is now ready to find his new FURR-EVER home! Ambiorix’s adoption fee is $48 and director approval only!

Sheba is a 6 year old Calico DLH. (Contributed)

Meet Sheba. She is a 6 year old Calico DLH that was released to the shelter because of allergies. She DOES NOT LIKE OTHER CATS and DOES NOT LIKE DOGS, so she will need to be in a home without them. She loves children and does not mind being picked up and handles. She is an INSIDE CAT ONLY and is LITTER BOX TRAINED. She does not really like when people try to touch her rear end, so it is best to avoid touching her there. This beautiful girl has been given her first round of vaccines and is FLV/FIV/HW NEGATIVE as of 01/11/2024. She has also already been SPAYED. She is now ready to find her new PURR-EVER home! Partially sponsored by @PAWS in Lyon County, Inc. Sheba’s adoption fee is $17.50
