HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.
Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:
Meet Grom! He is a 2-year-old red and white Boxer mix who was brought to the shelter after being abandoned in his last home. Grom has now been at our shelter for a little over 2 months. He does great with everyone he meets, including children. He keeps his kennel pretty clean, but we cannot say for sure if he is housebroken. Grom could still learn anything you’d like to teach him! He has done great with other dogs and is currently kenneled with another. We do not know how he feels about cats, but don’t count him out! If you don’t feel comfortable fully adopting him without knowing if he’s housetrained or good with cats, we would be happy to do a trial adoption for you. Just make sure to bring cash. Grom is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE! He is a whopping 36 pounds of love. He has also been NEUTERED AND BROUGHT CURRENT ON VACCINES through the shelter’s GET EM DONE program. He is a NO CHARGE adoption.

Hi, my name is Puffer! I was released to the shelter with my six kittens and another cat after being a stray for three months. I have now been living at the shelter for almost 3 months, with no luck finding my PURR-FECT match. I am a really sweet girl just looking for someone to love me. A couple of my kittens have already been adopted, and I’m beyond happy for them. I do not know how I feel about children, dogs, or other cats, so I would love to go on a trial adoption with you to see if I would be a good fit! I have been doing good with my litter box, but I may have had a couple accidents since I didn’t have a family for so long. I have not been spayed just yet, but I really want to be because I do NOT need any more babies. I really love people who give me affections and attention. I want to go home with you TODAY! Please adopt me! I have been spayed and brought current on my rabies vaccination via the shelter’s GET EM DONE program. My adoption fee is NO CHARGE if you are interested!

One year old Moonshadow is looking for a forever family to play with! Spunky, playful, affectionate, and full of energy, this guy will make a great companion! Smart, athletic, and adventurous, this 38lb greyhound/collie (?) mix will prefer an active lifestyle… Moonshadow will make a great agility or flyball dog! Good with other dogs and cats. He would love a very playful fur companion or two!! Loves the great outdoors but always happy to snuggle in with his people. He has pancreatic insufficiency which is easily managed with OTC supplements (we get them from Amazon). Our vet expects him to lead a long, silly, happy life!! UTD on vaccines and all preventatives, neutered. Message to meet this sweet boy and give him the home he deserves! Moving Mountains for Mastiffs
This handsome hunk is Blue. He is a Spanish Mastiff mix. Blue is great with strangers and fully vetted. He has been at the rescue now for about five years and no one knows why. He is the sweetest boy and has so much love to give. He has a warm and loving temperament and enjoys hugs and cuddles very much. Blue is obsessed with his ball and takes it absolutely everywhere. He’s yet to meet a person he doesn’t like. He has an average energy level and is overall quite calm. Blue absolutely adores children. They are his favorite people. He does not do well with cats and he is very dog selective. If you would like to add Blue to your family please complete an adoption application at https://form.jotform.us/82034796384162. We do require approved adopters to come to the rescue to meet the dogs.
