HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.

Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:

Josie Quinn is back! She is a one-year-old spayed brindle and white English Mastiff mix who was recently adopted and returned because the other dog in the home didn’t like her, and she likes to chew on furniture. She has been with us 77 days! She was adopted and brought back again because they didn’t have the time. She is a loving girl and is ready to meet anyone! She’s great with kids of all ages and we were told she is not housebroken by her last adopter. It could be she just needs a refresher course in potty training since she has been with us so long. She can be selective when choosing new canine friends so a meet and greet and trial adoption is recommended if you have them. We do not know how she feels about cats but that’s what trial adoptions are for! Josie Quinn would make a wonderful companion and is ready for another chance at a fur-ever home! She is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE, weighs about 76 pounds, and is UTD ON VACCINES! She is a no charge adoption.

Abel, a 4-year-old white tabby. (Contributed)

This handsome boy is Abel! He is a 4-year-old white and tabby NEUTERED DSH who was released to the shelter because he would use the bathroom in the same spot and not use his litterbox. Abel has been here at the shelter for a week. He is a very loving guy and has done fantastic with the staff. He didn’t take long at all to adjust and does great with other felines. He is also used to living with dogs and does good with them as well once adjusted!! Abel would make a loving companion. Abel is FIV/FLV/HW NEGATIVE as of 09/20/2023! Give this unique boy a chance at a new FURR-EVER home! His adoption fee is $32.50.

More animals and information can be found on the Christian County Animal Shelter’s Facebook.

The Christian County Animal Shelter recommends three additional pets this week.

Christian County Humane Society

This young adult female cat is named Gypsy. She lost her home when her owner passed away. She has an old eye injury which does not give her any problems.  She is very quiet yet loving.  She has a beautiful gray coat.  Gypsy is up to date on shots and spayed.  Call the Christian County Humane Society at 270-887-4678 to inquire about Gypsy. Moving Mountains for Mastiffs

Cocoa is an about 2-year-old mastiff mix that is currently at Moving Mountains for Mastiffs. She is great with strangers, kids, and other dogs as well. She needs an active home with kids or someone that can give her a lot of attention. She would make a great jogging partner! She will need a fenced yard and could use a home with doggie friends to play with because she needs the place time. You will not find a more affectionate dog. She will be an amazing pet if her needs are met for her energy level.  If you would like to add Cocoa to your family, please complete an adoption application at https://form.jotform.us/82034796384162. We do require approved adopters to come to the rescue to meet the dogs.
