HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.
Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:
Hello. My name is Ashley. I was released to the shelter as a stray, and now ready for my chance at a new home! I am a 3-year-old Seal Point DSH, that is as beautiful as can be! I don’t know how I feel about other cats, but we can test it out! We also aren’t sure if I am good with dogs or children, but we can do a trial if you have any! The staff here says they don’t know just yet if I am litterbox trained, but I will try my best to learn if I’m not! I am FLV/FIV/HW NEGATIVE as of Oct. 3 and have been given my first round of vaccines! If you are interested in me, please come and meet me. There is no way you can resist taking me home! My adoption fee is $57.50

Meet Bruce! He is an 8-month-old NEUTERED Weimaraner mix who was adopted as a young pup and recently returned because they didn’t have the time. He is already FULLY HOUSEBROKEN as well as CRATE TRAINED and can learn anything else you’d like to teach him. Bruce does great with other dogs but was not around cats in his last home so we recommend a trial adoption if you have them. He also does great with children and is ready for his new loving home! He is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE as well as UTD ON VACCINES and weighs about 56 pounds but will get bigger. He is a NO CHARGE adoption.
More animals and information can be found on the Christian County Animal Shelter’s Facebook.
The Christian County Animal Shelter recommends three additional pets this week.
Haven 12:10 Animal Sanctuary
Oh, sweet Lovey! A beautiful, gentle, affectionate coonhound/foxhound mix! Pulled from a kill shelter in Florida after a hurricane last fall, she was successfully treated for heartworms, emaciation, and parasites! At 5 years old this beautiful, spayed female has no known medical issues, is up to date on all vaccines and preventives and just wants to be loved! (Okay and food… she really likes food) she is great with other dogs and cats absolutely fantastic with children – she basically adores all other life forms! While she was very anxious when she first came to Haven, she has really settled in as her life has become much more consistent and she is an absolute joy. She adores her people and a soft couch. As you can see, she wears her heart on her side for all to see and it’s very fitting… You will be hard-pressed to find a sweeter dog!!

Moving Mountains for Mastiffs
***SPECIAL NEEDS CORSO*** This is Vader! He is a 2-year-old Cane Corso. He came in as a stray that was extremely underweight!! He has separation anxiety. He will panic if left outside alone. He is having some difficulty learning some of the basic training skills. He can and does learn. It just takes more time, patience, and understanding with him. He really requires a lot of one-on-one attention. He thrives when given affection. We are looking for someone who has plenty of time to give and has experience with dogs that need a little extra help. Please help us find the right place for him. We are willing to transfer to an appropriate rescue or keep him on as a foster. We just want what is best for him! If you would like to adopt from Moving Mountain for Mastiffs, please complete an adoption application at https://form.jotform.us/82034796384162. We do require approved adopters to come to the rescue to meet the dogs.

Max’s Hope
Sparky is a happy-go-lucky, high-energy girl who needs a fenced backyard with room to run and roll around in the grass. Since Sparky has grown up in a shelter environment. She will need some training and directions. She is eager to listen, very treat/food driven and would make a great companion! She could do fine in a home with a male dog but is very female dog selective and doesn’t mind cats. Sparky is great with kids when she has an Alpha leader there to remind her to be calm, otherwise she may jump on them and be very overwhelming for a child. (A home without small children would probably be best). She would best thrive in a home where she can have an Alpha Human to correct her when she is showing her energy and needs to be told so. Sparky loves to play fetch and is very good at it. She also likes long walks and
just laying around in the sun. This girl keeps her room neat. She does have accidents here and there since she’s only known a shelter environment. Sparky is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and spayed. Sparky is one of our longest residents here at Max’s Hope, and she needs a home to call her own. Please email maxshopepr@gmail.com or call 270-962-7089 if you’d like to adopt.
